Me trying to look as sweet as the sweets
I always find traditions interesting and was lucky to get a guernsey to Fabiane and Evandros amazing wedding on the weekend in Auriflama (Sao Paulo state):
* Seems local standard to live with your folks until you get hitched. Or rent with friends if living outside your home town. Pretty rare to move in with a girlfriend or boyfriend.
* A small wedding has 200 guests, and a real party wedding hits 800 guests! Guests get a entry pass with their invite, your ticket to celebrate!
* Weddings have two distinct parts – church ceremony and reception. Only about one third of the guests went to the wedding, but they were allllll there at the party afterwards – which went til 4am! Why? “Dont like church, was busy, wanted a good table/car park at the reception...”
* The wedding party is made up of 10-20 significant couples in the bride and grooms lives – friends, relations etc . They walk down the isle before the bride and groom – lucky they have big churches here!
* Page boys/flower girls waltzed down the isle after the vows to present the couple with their wedding rings, a key to their home and a bible.
* There was a 4piece band in the church and about an 8 piece band at the reception – woop woop! Reception band had about 6 outfit changes – all fun and spiffy!
* Food everywhere! Welcome canapés, extreme buffet of entree, followed by mains buffet (which I didn’t even get to), and a full display of delicate desserts , plus wedding cake, plus take home macaroon type gifts.
* Drinks a plenty! The hit was the cocktail bar complete with two hot barmen and an even hotter barchick, their own lightshow and pyrotechnics act. Didn’t drink much beer that night!
* Amazing decor! Incredible flower displays and attention to detail. Powder room was full of everything a girl might need, each individually wrapped in F&E packaging. Ladies also got a ticket for exclusive F&E thongs – so cute!
WHAT AN AMAZING NIGHT WITH FABULOUSLY FUUUUUN PEOPLE
